About Cadence
Cadence helps runners research footwear through detailed specifications, transparent sourcing, comparisons, and runner-focused editorial guidance.
Cadence is an independent running-shoe research and comparison database founded and maintained by Mark Shannon, a competitive runner and running coach.
Choosing a running shoe can be difficult because models differ in cushioning, geometry, weight, fit, materials, intended use, and price. Cadence brings those details together so runners can compare models and make more informed decisions.
Cadence does not sell running shoes. Product links lead to manufacturer or retailer websites, and specifications should be confirmed with those sources before purchase.
Our Mission
To make running-shoe research clearer, more transparent, and easier to compare.
Who Cadence Serves
Cadence is designed for runners of different experience levels, from beginners researching a first daily trainer to competitive athletes comparing workout and racing shoes.
How Cadence Is Maintained
New models, specification changes, and corrections are added as reliable information becomes available. The database does not claim to include every shoe or to be updated on a fixed weekly schedule.
How Content Is Created
Specifications may come from manufacturers and established retailers. Editorial context, comparisons, database organization, and personally tested observations are created or reviewed specifically for Cadence. Personal testing is identified clearly — a database profile does not automatically mean a shoe was personally tested.
