Founder of Cadence

Mark Shannon

Professional runner, coach, and founder of Cadence.

Mark Shannon is a professional middle-distance runner, coach, and the founder of Cadence. He competed for five years at the University of Alabama, earning NCAA Division I All-American honors and racing at the SEC Championships and NCAA Championships. He has personal bests of 3:57 in the mile and 3:40 in the 1500 meters.

After years of training, racing, and testing different footwear, Mark saw how difficult it could be to compare running shoes using clear and consistent information. He created Cadence to bring shoe specifications, categories, comparisons, and expert insight together in one place — helping runners better understand their options before choosing their next shoe.

Mark currently coaches cross country and track at St. Edward High School near Cleveland and is pursuing a master's degree in Sport Management at the University of Florida. His experience as both an athlete and coach shapes how every shoe is evaluated on Cadence.

About Cadence

Cadence is a running shoe comparison platform built to put real specs — stack height, drop, weight, foam, and plate data — in one place, so runners can make informed decisions instead of relying on marketing copy.
